Dr. Sadao
Hattori, Vice President of CRIEPI reports (BELLE 1994) on the benefits of radiation
hormesis use, that: "Professor Sakamoto is using radiation
hormesis to cure and to suppress the reappearance of cancer in the hospital of Tohoku
University. .. He is successfully applying whole body, or half body low level dose
combined with local high dose irradiation to treat non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma... Some
analytical results demonstrate an increase of the ratio of the helper T cells to
suppressor T cells." Dr. Kiyohiko Sakamoto, Professor Emeritus of the Medical School of the Tohoku University, Japan, reports also (1996) that: "For 15 yr, we have studied the effects of low doses of TBI on normal or tumor-bearing mice and its immunological background. ...We show the results of fundamental and clinical studies on tumor control by low doses of TBI." Professor and Chairman Emeritus of the Dept. of Biochemistry, U. Missouri-Columbia School of Medicine, Dr. Don Luckey reports (1991) on female sterility treatments, that: that in 644 women treated for sterility by exposing their ovaries to 65 cGy of 200 kV X- ray, none of the resulting 351 pregnancies resulted in genetic damage: the incidence of genetic damage to the children and grandchildren of this group is less than that in the normal population Dr. Yoshihiro Takai, and his colleagues at the
Department of Radiology, Tohoku University, report further (1991) that: "Selective
deletion of radio-sensitive suppressor T cells by low dose total body irradiation (TBI) is
believed to be part of the mechanism of anti-tumor effect of this irradiation. Recently,
with the concept of Radiation Hormesis being introduced by T. D. Luckey, new
experimental data and hypotheses have been reported. It is possible that adaptive feedback
control signals are stimulated to upregulate stem cells and proliferative populations in
response to cell injury and cell death induced by low dose irradiation as described by
Fabricant and Makinodan." |
