Dr. Hugh F. Henry, of the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, states (1961) that:

"Mole (Mole 1958), in commenting on all chronic-exposure experimental data before 1957, noted that of the 8 experimental points at dosages of less than 10 r per week or the equivalent in neutrons, the life span of none of the experimental groups was significantly different from that of the controls."

"Almost always the average life span of the animal concerned is extended by low levels of radiation, but the last animal to die is usually a control. The greatest effect on average mortality is a decrease in deaths among animals receiving low-level exposures."
