Dr. Sohei
Kondo presents the data on human health effects. He shows that radiation doses at less
than 10s of cGy (rad) or cSv (rem), and for 100s of cGy or cSv in many long-term, chronic
or highly fractionated exposures, are not detrimental to human health, and are clearly
beneficial in many cases. Dr. Kondo summarizes some of the biological evidence that is being developed in Chapter 5 and 6 that describes cellular repair and stimulation from low-level radiation doses at the cellular and molecular level. This developing data contradicts the biological bases for stochastic effects that supported the "linear model" hypothesis. |
