2002 Science "Policy Forum" paper, and
January 10, 2003 "Response to Comments"
Shortly after 9/11/01, in response to exaggerated concerns over the possible
consequences of a casualty to a nuclear plant or its fuel, a group of 19
senior nuclear power authorities, all members of the National Academy of
Engineering, prepared a study of the realistic consequences of the ultimate
nuclear casualty, involving meltdown and compromise of containment.
These authors contributed to the preparation of the ANS "White Paper on
Realism," concurring in the final draft. They are:
